Manuka Honey 8+
Manuka is the queen bee of honey. This highly prized mono-floral variety is created from one species of flower. It is produced by bees that have fed on the Leptospermum tree – commonly known as the Tea tree, which flowers fewer than six weeks a year and grows wild in Australia and New Zealand.
Vallentine’s Manuka honey bears the distinctive slightly bitter taste that is typical of darker honey. Experience the rich, intense and full-bodied flavour with floral undertones and an aroma that hints of the tropics.
Manuka Honey for Health
While Manuka honey has only recently come under the spotlight, its use dates back centuries as a traditional Indigenous and Egyptian medicinal agent. Its anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-biotic and anti-septic properies were used to treat a variety of conditions like mouth ulcers, stomach ulcers, sore throats, flu and cold symptoms, burns, infections, grazes and much more.
Being 100% natural means it can be used both internally and externally for wounds and other treatments.
The major antibacterial component in Manuka honey is methylglyoxal (MG). MG is a compound found in most types of honey, but usually only in small quantities.
In manuka honey, MG comes from the conversion of another compound, dihydroxyacetone, that is found in high concentration in the nectar of manuka flowers.
Packed with health benefits, healing properties and deliciously sweet on the palate, Vallentine’s potent Manuka deserves pride of place in the pantry.
